Artist Biography
Sarah Wass flute
Flutist Sarah Wass chose her instrument in the third grade because she knew it would fit in her back pack. She is currently a freelance musician in Los Angeles, playing in orchestras, chamber ensembles, recording studios and art galleries. As a soloist, she has recorded concerti by Mozart and Quantz and sonatas by JS Bach for the "Modulations" music therapy series by Tempo Space Productions. An avid chamber musician, Sarah performs regularly with inauthentica, the Night Wanderers and her husband, guitarist Steven Thachuk. She can also be heard on recordings by rock artists Bright Eyes and A Fine Frenzy. A dedicated teacher, Sarah is on the faculty of the Harmony Project where she recently took on the role of Program Manager, and also maintains a private studio.Sarah is also the co-director and co-founder of the Academy of Creative Education, a summer performing arts school dedicated to empowering students through the creation and performance of their own work. Sarah holds a BM from the Oberlin Conservatory and an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts.
