Russell Moss
Trombone
Russell Moss is a performing, teaching and composing bass trombone player in Spokane, WA and Los Angeles, CA. In the summer of 2004 Russell attended Interlochen Arts Camp, where he performed in the World Youth Symphony Orchestra, the World Youth Symphonic Band, and the High School Jazz Band, and was under the tutelage of Dr. Philip Jameson (professor of trombone at the University of Georgia). He also attended the Interlochen Arts Academy in 2005-2006 where he studied trombone under Thomas Riccobono (Principal Trombone of the Traverse Symphony Orchestra) and performed with the Interlochen Orchestra, Brass Ensemble, and Jazz Ensemble. Upon graduation from Interlochen Arts Academy, he attended the California Institute of the Arts. At CalArts, Russell studies under Jim Miller (Associate Principal Trombone of the Los Angeles Philharmonic). He has performed in numerous improvisational ensembles and is constantly exploring in the field of electronic music. In addition to playing at CalArts, Russell also performs at UCLA with the Latin Jazz Big Band. He is also the brass coach for the Santa Clarita Youth Symphony.
